| Against | This is a violation of our Constitutional rights to be secure in our persons as provided by the 4th Amendment. I can see doing this after a person is found guilty by a jury of his/her peers, but prior to that it's a violation of our Constitutional rights. | Jun-02-2011 |
| Against | I strongly urge you not to support AB551 . It is a blatant violation of our Constitutional rights to be secure in our persons as provided by the 4th Amendment. The additional potential for uncontrolled DNA data-mining, invasion of privacy and public disclosure of confidential medical information without probable cause further creates opportunities for violation of civil liberties and basic human rights. The legislature must not encourage executive powers in these regards. | Jun-02-2011 |

| Against | I thought people are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty! Not everyone who is arrested is convicted. What a nightmare it would be to have my DNA samples on file, mixed up with someone else's. I'm home minding my own business when cops show up and haul me off because "my DNA was found at a crime scene!" take the DNA at sentencing, not at arrest. | Jun-02-2011 |
| For | This law is obviously needed. How many repeat offender stories have we heard over the years that could have been prevented with a simple law like this. Not to mention people who have been wrongly convicted of felonies that could have been exonerated. If you are arrested for a felony, the inconvinience of a cotton swab of DNA is going to be the least of your worries. The 4th ammendment argument is absolutely ridiculous. This is no different than a fingerprint and the people who are against it are incredible selfish. Protecting children from predators needs to be every decent adults primary responsibility. Please vote yes for this bill. | Jun-01-2011 |

| Against | This bill is unconstitutional! I don't understand how this bill ever even made it out of committee. If it passes it should be challenged in court. I read the comments on this and it is frightening how uninformed and ignorant all the "for" people are. They are willing to give up their constitutional right for "the good of the children". Well, if we keep on going like this, the children will have no rights left. Welcome to Nazi Germany! | May-28-2011 |

| Against | Oppose AB552..."It's of more importance to community that innocence should be protected than it is that guilt should be punished"..John Adams. When we are found innocent how do we get our DNA sample removed from the record? How do we get the collection of DNA fee refunded? This act will do more harm than good. Vote NO | May-27-2011 |
| For | I want criminals caught who commit sex crimes and other violent acts. If this helps the police find the criminals, I am all for it. | May-26-2011 |
| Against | Unconstitutional. This spits in the face of the 4th amendment. Any criminal trial or conviction can be in jeopardy or overturned on appeal if the evidence is gathered without a warrant. Don't waste the court's time. | May-26-2011 |
| Against | May-26-2011 | |
| Against | I'm tired of these attacks against individual sovereignty. I have a God-given right to be secure in person and property until a proper warrant is obtained from judicial authority. This bill takes a biological sample without my permission or a court order. It's outrageous! You people who believe it's a good idea should voluntarily submit your own DNA for analysis and since you love tyranny under the guise of "protecting citizens" why don't you quarter policemen at your home for protection? Fools and idiots! I don't need DNA samples from putative felons in order to be safe or feel safe. I can take care of myself! I'm tired of you nanny do-gooders! Get out of Nevada and return to liberal loony-toon California. | May-26-2011 |
| Against | This is clearly against the Bill of Rights! How can you seize a person’s DNA without due process and keep it forever, running it against unknown samples in search of crimes? What about the right to remain silent? There already is a process for this, it’s called developing probable cause and then getting a Court to issue a Warrant and then getting your sample…of course then the accused has the right to remain silent, have counsel and due process.. I honestly can’t believe this is even being considered. This is what they do in England, where our founders fled from to escape this sort of tyranny against individual rights. | May-26-2011 |
| For | I urge you to pass this law with the amendments to allow a petitioner the right to have DNA testing at their own expense. There should be some equity in the laws we live by, and this bill would give innocent prisoners the ability to prove their innocence at no cost to the state. Sounds like a win-win to me. | May-26-2011 |

| Against | This bill advocates for violation of our fourth amendment rights. We are to be presumed innocent until proven guilty. To seize a DNA sample without probable cause or a warrant is unconstitutional. Amend it to read that DNA samples shall be taken only upon conviction. Do not pass this bill. | Apr-18-2011 |
| Against | Vote NO! Unconstitutional. We don't need nor want this obrusive bill. | Apr-18-2011 |
| Against | What ever happened to the police doing an investigation? DNA can be obtained now with consent of the suspect or a Court Order. Do we really want the State to be able to take your DNA anytime they feel the need? What's next? Random roadside finger print checks? | Apr-18-2011 |
| Against | this bill should have never been brought up and is a clear violation of our rights, for the sheeple that think it is a good thing it is not, try and see the writting on the wall or give up all your rights. | Apr-18-2011 |
| Against | This is a backdoor method to creating a DNA database. It violates due process, and the 4th and 5th amendment. This is how Nazi Germany started... | Apr-18-2011 |

| Against | VERY much against. It is already legal to take a DNA sample when CONVICTED. No warrant? It would make it easier to get my DNA than search my house. According to the wording of the bill, "any crime", they can take your DNA over a speeding ticket. No thank you. Do not take any MORE of my rights. | Apr-18-2011 |
| Against | This horrible bill will allow law enforcement to poke and prod you for biological samples - before you are even CONVICTED of a crime. Think about that: DNA will be taken from you, without a warrant, with no evidence, and worst of all, with no conviction of any crime. This is un-Constitutional and if the bill passes it will be deemed so by a higher court of law. Do not surrender any more of your freedom. Do not give gov't another avenue to trample your rights. Vote NO on ab-552! | Apr-18-2011 |
| Against | Apr-18-2011 | |
| Against | Read carefully people! They want DNA for people who are simply ARRESTED. That means if they arrest grandma in connection with a crime that she is found innocent of they still have her DNA. This is a total invasion of privacy and against due process. CONVICTED felons need to be in a database not innocent people who get arrested unjustly by idiot LEO's. You sheeple make me sick! | Apr-18-2011 |
| Against | Whatever happened to due process? | Apr-18-2011 |
| Against | This bill violates a person's right to privacy. Simply being detained for suspicion of a crime is NOT a valid reason to be forced to give up personal DNA property. | Apr-18-2011 |

| For | This bill would save the lives of unsuspecting individuals. | Apr-14-2011 |
| Against | A bill similar to AB552 was introduced by Heidi Gansert during the previous legislative session. It did not pass. I am inalterably opposed to AB552. It is unnecessary and an infringement on citizen's rights and freedoms. Being arrested for a felony does not mean guilty it is only an accusation. What has happened to "innocent until proven guilty"? If biological specimens are taken from arrestees what is done with them? Are they entered to a database and kept there even if the person is found innocent? Or, are they taken and not used until the person is found guilty in which case they never should have been taken anyway because current law states that specimens will be taken only from those found guilty of a felony. Will the law differentiate between types of felonies? Ms Zunino-Dennison appeared before the Judicial Committee on April 13th. I am truly sorry for her tragic loss of her daughter and I can scarcely imagine the tremendous grief she has felt. However, this event cannot be used as an excuse to erode the rights of the rest of the citizens of Nevada. Why do I oppose this? I was arrested but not convicted of a felony. What right has the fist of the government have to take biological samples from someone that may be in my situation. Please soundly defeat AB552. | Apr-14-2011 |

| For | Brianna Denison and I met in 2003 at the American Overseas School of Rome, Italy. Although we lived on opposite sides of the states, she in Nevada and me in New York, we corresponded multiple times weekly via snail mail. Over the years I have kept each ahold of hundreds of letters and packages. Brianna and I had a unique and unforgettable relationship. In 2006, when Brianna graduated from High School, her mother flew me out to Reno as a complete surprise to Bri- it had been three years since we had seen each other. Although I will always have the incredible memories, I also will never forget the heartbreak of her murder- complete anguish. Brianna would not want us to be in terror and fear, with this law, in her name, we can further protect our children. Brianna will never be forgotten, and with the passing of this law a thread of good can come from an unbearable tragedy. | Apr-13-2011 |
| For | I support this bill and hope that you will vote for its passage. It will help solve more crimes by identifying the DNA of criminals that have not yet been tied to crimes. If an individual is being arrested for a felony, I am pretty sure it is not the individual's first arrest. If this testing leads to a conviction for a previously unsolved crime, it will keep others from becoming victims of the individual in the future. I appreciate your support of this bill. | Apr-12-2011 |
| For | This is an important step in keeping our community safe! I am the mother of 3 daughters - please take this into serious consideration!!! | Apr-12-2011 |
| For | This should not only be a law in Nevada, but in every State in the United States. We should have DNA on every US Citizen and also all people visiting and becoming citizens of the United States. To many of our current laws protect the rights of criminals instead of innocent people. | Apr-12-2011 |
| For | This law as I understand will change DNA testing from ALL CONVICTED FELONS to DNA testing on ALL FELONY ARRESTS. This means that at booking an arrestee will be fingerprinted, mug shot taken and a simple cheek swab taken. I support this measure 100%. | Apr-12-2011 |
| For | Apr-12-2011 | |
| For | This is a great idea and over time it may be very cost affective. It is less expensive to pay for a dna sample to be analyzed than it is to pay a detective to continue to investigate a crime and allow the suspect to roam free and commit more crimes costly the public more money. | Apr-12-2011 |
| For | Use the technology available and protect our citizens. | Apr-12-2011 |
| For | YES! Keep us safer! You give up your rights when you commit a felony ot get more... | Apr-12-2011 |
| For | It has been 3 years and losing my friend, Bri, just doesn't seem to be getting any easier. Sure, the initial shock has worn off, and I'm SO happy that the monster who did this to her is now sitting on death row! However, I want to make sure that people never have to endure the heartache that Brianna's family and friends have gone through. I simply will not accept that nothing good can come out of this... it must! With that said, please support Bri's Law, bill AB552. Thank you. | Apr-11-2011 |
| For | This should be mandatory for all convicted felons. | Apr-11-2011 |
| For | I would like to share my opinion and passion regarding the proposition of passing this bill. I truly believe that many of the crimes that are committed on a day to day basis could be solved with this bill/act in place. I believe that we as a community and state should not have to live in fear when perpetrators that have been previously convicted are on the run or have "disappeared". We should have the right to know that previously convicted criminals are kept in a database and can lcated when crimes occur. We owe it to innocent victims like Brianna Denison and many others to heighten the chances of capturing these perpetrators. | Apr-11-2011 |
| For | Apr-11-2011 | |
| For | We are in support of Brianna's Law. Thank you, Dave and Janice Brooks | Apr-11-2011 |
| For | No one should get away with murder, rape, nor any other heinous crime. With collection of DNA on all felony arrests, they won't. Law enforcement will be able to identify and successfully prosecute criminals earlier in their careers. Many lives will be saved, crime will be reduced and fewer cases will grow cold. It will protect the innocent and keep the innocent out of jail. Please pass this important public safety legislation. | Apr-11-2011 |
| For | if people have nothing to hide and are arrested wrongly then they shoudl have no probelm sharing their DNA. Lets catch repeat offenders in the act. It should not be luck to figure out their DNA matches. I also think the person being arrested should have to pay for the swab. | Apr-11-2011 |

| For | This bill is definately a great idea. If it were already in place then lives could have been saved and time and money spent on unneccesary findings could have been eliminated. | Apr-09-2011 |
| For | DNA testing on ALL FELONY ARRESTS is critical to helping put criminals behind bars and making sure innocent people are eliminated as suspects. Please allow this important law enforcement tool to be maximized! | Apr-09-2011 |
| For | There is no reason someone arrested on a Felony charge should not have to give a DNA sample. A buccal swab is no more intrusive than taking fingerprints. The only people who will have a problem with this are criminals or future criminals. Why do we continue to protect this segment of our society? | Apr-09-2011 |

| For | nevada must do everything it can to protect it's innocent citizens from violent offenders. A version of this bill is passed or being passed in almost every state in the nation. We must use every resource we have to keep predators off of our streets. In addition to helping to convict the guilty this bill can help clear people who have been wrongly convicted. no matter what the state of the economy may be, we must always remember that governments first and highest priority is to protect it's citizens. | Apr-08-2011 |
| For | must be done---please | Apr-08-2011 |

| For | Please pass this bill | Apr-08-2011 |
| For | They should have passed this a long time ago. It needs to pass right now in order to prevent more trajedies. | Apr-08-2011 |
| Against | As this is based on arrest, and not conviction, it will be deemed unconstitutional. (A fight Nevada can not afford to have right now) The fact is that law enforcement officers are not even qualified to make a final determination of whether a crime is a felony or not. This is clear when people are frequently charged by a prosecutor with crimes other than what they were booked for initially. The bottom line is that innocent people are arrested everyday. Forcing them to provide DNA for a criminal registry, because they are wrongfully accused only adds insult to injury. Moreover, at a time when we don't have adequate funds or facilities to process the DNA of convicted felons already required to provide DNA samples, expanding the number of samples is also irresponsible. | Apr-08-2011 |

| For | This bill needs to be passed to bring justice into the state of Nevada. We have had incredible advances in biological and genetic technology, but we are not utilizing them. Why would we not use these resources that have proved to be accurate? It will help keep the innocent out of jail and the guilty incarcerated. By using DNA testing on all arrests, we can be sure of the defendants involvement with the crime. This would mean justice. | Apr-08-2011 |
| For | Why shouldnt felons have to give their specimens upon arrest? They are criminals whether it be big or small and this will help convict those criminals in a more timely manner if their specimen is already on record. They already broke the law which was their choice, others shouldnt have to suffer for it! Please pass this bill!! What if it happened to your son or daughter, how would you feel than? | Apr-08-2011 |

| For | My whole family back the family up the whole way.We live in Reno and when Bri went missing it devestated our whole town. My daughter wakes up STILL at night crying.. It was truly scarry to think someone like that THING could be walking among us. I believe that there needs to be a law stating that EVERYONE`S DNA be on record so that the next time god forbid something like this happens we can find the person much faster. The criminal in this case walked AMONG us, his KID went to school not even a step away from my college and so I am SURE every morning as I stepped out of my car he was there at the school dropping his child off, AND so many others were in danger.. He raped girls at the college I went to for a short time, he assaulted nurses that I had worked with.. He COULD have been stopped sooner had they only of had his fingerprints on file. AND this guy had been in minor trouble before. The people that are against it are the ones that have something to hide. I pray for the safety of every child, mother, and every person who will become a victim or might become a victim that this law is passed. It NEEDS to be passed. Jordy wears her blue ribbon all the time and her wistle bri`s momma gave her is always in her backpack at all times. God bless you all. | Apr-08-2011 |

| For | This bill is important for protecting victims rights. It will assist in solving crimes. It may reduce the number of cold cases. It is especially valid for victims of sex crimes, to bring them justice especially when they are no longer able to identify their assailant because they are deceased. I think we could also argue that with DNA evidence there is higher likelihood that the perpetrator be justly accused rather than an innocent person going to prison for a crime they did not commit. Women and girls are too often victims of violent crimes that involve rape and murder. Repeat offenders, serial offenders of this type of crime could be halted with AB552. I support passing this bill into law. | Apr-07-2011 |

| For | We're hoping Nevada will set a precedent with this law. We have the technology to protect people from criminals who are arrested only to be let free and repeat their crimes. This is a simple and important addition to the booking procedure that we need. Please sign this bill into law to protect our children and all people. | For | If a person committs a felony we need to know who they are. You lose right to privacy. Commit one felony, easy to commit more. | Apr-07-2011 |
| For | Protect our families! This is a no brainer. Most violent felons will more than likely commit a felony offense when released into the public. Much like fingerprints, a person that is arrested for a felony or a misdemeanor, prints are taken at the time of booking. A person can be found not guilty but their fingerprints were still taken at the time of arrest. | Apr-07-2011 |
| For | It's time to bring more rights back to the people in order to protect the innocent from the criminal. | Apr-07-2011 |

| For | There are those who will commit acts of violence against our laws and our people. When those who commit those acts are suspect of becoming repeat offenders of those laws, or if the crime is by nature a felony, it requires greater measures to connect those individuals to the crimes that they commit. This bill allows our law enforcement to carry out their duty and to apprehend those who would otherwise slip through the grid of laws created to protect our individual peace, liberty, and freedom. I support this bill! | Apr-07-2011 |
| For | Without a doubt Brianna's Law (AB552) should be passed, all felons should have their DNA taken and kept forever. This law could save many lives. I am not a Nevada resident, but I hope this law will pass and in memory of Brianna. | Apr-07-2011 |

| For | Nevada has been considered a transient state for so long, but the people who call it home really want an important message to be sent out to criminals or would be criminals. Nevada has no tolerance! We want a safe place to raise our children and grandchildren. I have lived here since 1973 and I love Nevada! | Apr-07-2011 |
