They have chosen to expand operations in connecting states instead of Nevada for this reason. You are creating jobs as promised by creating new positions for employees to process unemployment claims for new additions to the state unemployment payroll account. | For | While the details of the bill need more work, this is something which should have been done a long time ago. Companies offering services are getting a free ride when compared to companies offering goods and when compared to gaming, mining and others. Those businesses objecting to the bill act as if they are being taxed on the services they offer, but they are not. They would pay taxes on services they use, but they would simply be collecting the transaction tax and remitting it to the State. The consumer would pay the tax. The tax system we have now is unfair and this makes it more fair. Though it will increase taxes, I am convinced that our state cannot continue without supporting education in general and higher education in particular. Other governors such as the Republican governor of Virginia have pumped more money into higher education and recently released statistics indicate that they have been attracting the kind of industries Nevada wants to attract. One major reason cited by business leaders for moving to Virginia is the quality of their higher education system. Nevada has tried to attract new businesses for a long time with some of the lowest taxes in the nation, and has failed to do so. Another state agency will have to be created to monitor the service providers and collect the taxes. You need to find ways to cut the fat from some of the state agencies we already have.
