Against I am sick and tired of being penalized because of the actions of criminals. I suffer from allergies and the fact that I would have to spend $80.00 plus for a doctor visit in order to obtain over-the-counter relief does not make sense. Law abiding citizens should not have to pay because some people will find a way to get their illegal drugs despite any number of roadblocks that are thrown in their way. Apr-15-2011

Against Really. Are you kidding me. This is up there on the stupidity level with the prohibition of candles and air fresheners in public places. Do you honestly believe that persecuting the 99% of Nevadans for the acts of the criminals is really going to impact the production of meth here or CA or Mexico. If you are so worried about the influx of meth from Mexico - the call your federal leaders and tell them to strengthen the borders. Don't punish me (I have year round allergies). Any criminal can figure thier way around this. Hell - they have probably already begun stock piling since this was introduced. Stop taking things away from me. Call the feds and tell them to increase border security. In order to stop meth from coming in from Mexico - build a freaking 30 foot wall and start shooting anyone who tries to come over it. I am sick of my constitutionally protected freedoms being taken away because of our neighbors to the south. DON'T PASS THIS STUPID PIECE OF LEGISLATION. LESLIE IS AN IDIOT (BUT NOT AS MUCH AS THE PERSON WHO WANTS TO BAN CANDLES AND AIR FRESHENERS IN PUBLIC PLACES - NOW THAT IS AN IDIOT)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Apr-14-2011

Against In passing this bill it means a medical expense that is unnecessary when the medication can be bought online from foreign countries. Why make it unaffordable to take care for the health of our families for frivolous passage of a nonsensical bill to prevent health care for a child or family member? I feel it is trying to force people to boost their medical insurance visits which in turn raise profits to insurance companies. This is a Republican ploy in aiding their contributors to bigger profits. Apr-12-2011

Against Instead of punishing people that are following the law, why don't you have min. of 5 yrs for users and min. 10 yrs. for dealers and manufacturers? My health care costs enough. I don't want to have to pay to go to the doctors if my kid has a runny nose. Punish the criminals not us regular citizens. Apr-11-2011
Against Will increase taxpayers cost of living and (or) reduce their quality of life. Could negatively effect state tax receipts. All that is needed (if anything) is purchasers to sign for medication and law enforcement to have access to the db. Apr-11-2011
Against The worst part of this bill is the ability of those needing medication for the common cold or allergy to obtain the medication without having to pay for a doctor visit. Also when you wake up and find you have a sinus headache or cold it's not very comforting if you have to wait 3 to 5 days, if your lucky to even get a doctors appointment. Please vote "NO" on this bill. Apr-11-2011

Against Apr-11-2011
Against This is the absolute most ludicrious law to even be considering, especially now, when we already have the ObamaCare issue to deal with, and how much sense does it take to know when your kid or you simply need an allergenic to stop the stuffed up nose and the sneezes, and these framers of this Bill are insisting that we get a Doctor Prescription for every one who has allergies. There are many other things that YOU and the rest of our Senate need to put these energies into, such as deciding to help Governor Sandoval BALANCE THE BUDGET WITHOUT RAISING TAXES, which is a lot more important than this stupid Bill. Get your act together and stop even WASTING TIME AN ENERGY ON FRIVILOUS BILLS SUCH AS THIS. WE DO NOT NEED TO HAVE ANY MORE STUPIDITY AND STATE ORIENTED NANNY GOVERNMENT. GET REAL AND DO THE JOB YOU WERE PUT IN THERE FOR. If this passes, do you think you will see a big jump in petty thefts, so a single mom can buy black market cough syrup for her child? Get a clue. Vote No on SB 203 Apr-11-2011
Against Our state has not the financial capability to fund this. There are other ways this stuff can be produced in a home-lab. This is not the way to crack down on drug use. For I have lived in a state which passed a similar law and it dramaticallty reduced manufacture of methapmphetamine as well as property damage to homes which drug maunufacturers rented from unwitting landlords. PLEASE PLEASE support this bill. Methamphetamine is one of the most dangerous illegal drugs a person and take and one "trip" can ruin a person's mind for life. Meth patients overload local hospital emergency rooms. Anything which will reduce meth use should be the law of the land!!! As a manager at the Oregon State Mental Health Division, we were asked to provide long term supervised care for individuals impaired by meth. We already have laws to penalize those who engage in illicit drugs when caught driving their cars, or being in public. We don't want any more laws. There are too many now for us to know them all. Apr-10-2011
Against This puts an unnecessary financial and time burden on honest people and their physicians. Drug dealers find black market avenues for their products and the research I have read does not support this as an effective means of control. Apr-10-2011
Against This bill impacts point of medical for many who can't afford to go to the doctor for every cold symptom. We already regulate this through dispensing amounts. We can not regulate access to every harmful addictive drug or we would have to eliminate bath salts, aerosol cans and many other products. Please do not pass this bill. Apr-10-2011
Against Another great example of something probably well intentioned that is ridiculous in practice. Let's find a way to punish meth dealers, not people who just want to cure a cold, slow their alegergies or help a sick child recover. This is not a good option. Apr-09-2011

The concern becomes much more important when considering the range of violent impact on the general public because of related crime and proximaty to the manufacture, distribution and use of the drug. The impact of this bill on the general public will be miniscule, especially compared to the potential impact on manufacturers and users. I fully support SB203. Apr-08-2011

Against This bill is ridiculous! We are seniors, on a fixed income and rarely take any pseudoephedirine product. However, requiring us to make an appointment, drive to the doctor, pay for an office visit, drive to the pharmacy to get it filled is outlandish. Studies already show that the majority of ephedrine is smuggled through Mexico and South America. The amount of individual, low level medication required to make any substantial amount of methamphetamine from pseudophedrine would boggle the average taxpayer. Kill this bill and do not increas our taxes, time and money needed to treat a minor illness. This bill will do nothing to cut down on methamphetamine production/use! Apr-07-2011

For The mild inconvenience that may ensue from having precurser drugs prescription only (obtain Rx from physician or choose an alternative cold/allergy medication), is well worth it to reduce methamphetamine production and use in Nevada. The cost is simply way too high not to take this step before it is too late. The harm that is done to children and families as a result of meth use and addiction is devastating to our communities, our resources and our future. It is time to protect the people, particularly our children, instead of the corporations. I used to be able to buy allergy medications cheap but they became expensive when I had to buy them as a registered med. If you vote to make them a prescription, then also vote to make them mandatory coverage under health care insurance. Mar-17-2011

Against I am opposed to SB203. This bill would create a great hardship on law abiding citizens who are just looking for some relief for the common cold. I have tried the "new formula" cold medicine that does not contain Pseudoephedrine, and have repeatedly found that is does not work for me, or my family members. We routinely need to purchase Advil Cold & Sinus, Mucinex, Claritin-D, and Children's Sudafed during cold & allergy season, which is almost year round here in Northern Nevada. I am a bus Mar-15-2011
Against This is a fix for a problem we no longer have. Our huge meth epidemic comes from super-labs not home grown labs anymore. What about people who need pseudoephed daily? we are already behind the counter, waiting in line and being tracked when we purchase.. Seriously, now I'll need to pay for an RX w/o insurance and then wait in line an be tracked? How many dr visits a year will that take just for hay fever? Ridiculous!!! Mar-15-2011
Against People should not be made to pay money to see a doctor, just to wait in line and pay more money just to get common allergy medication. The alternatives do not always work as well. Most of the pseudoephedrine in meth production is coming from Mexico in bulk quantities, not drug stores. Allergy sufferers shouldn't have to suffer additional burdens because of the actions of meth producers. Mar-15-2011
Against Requiring these substances to be issued by prescription only is over-reaching and unneccessary. The current restrictions - especially if enhanced by additional computer tracking- are more than sufficient. Further restriction is detrimental and insulting to law abiding citizens. Mar-15-2011

In case you haven't noticed, we're having a hard enough time making ends meet out here. For Meth is the most regulateable illegal drug there is. Is it so inconvenient to get a prescript that we'd rather have a booming meth economy in our state? Prioritize people! Mar-14-2011
Against Nevadans should not have to get a perscription from their doctor which will also cost an office visit to simply buy a cold remedy.Don't penalize responsible citizens for the actions of a few. Mar-13-2011
Against Vote against this bill. It will only inconvenience taxpayers that use drugs such as Claritin-D. It will drive up their costs (requiring a prescription - obtained through a doctor's visit). This is not necessary. Mar-13-2011
Against SB-203, a well intentioned but poorly thought out bill. State and federal law already controls the sale of over the counter cold and allergy medicine. Do we really want to force citizens to see a doctor two weeks later for medication needed now? Aren’t medical costs high enough? Do we want to see a seventy year old tourist to Las Vegas or Reno arrested on felony drug charges because a traffic officer sees a package of cold medication on the seat of the car? Mar-12-2011
Against I believe this will drive up the cost of medical for many individuals. Aren't we trying to bring the cost of healthcare down? Mar-12-2011
Against I am concerned that this bill will only serve to increase the overextended PCP’s, pharmacists, and pharmacies workload by mandating the need for a Rx for any ephedrine or pseudoephedrine product. I know there is a database that tracks all purchases and I am not clear on why this is not an effective measure to prevent misappropriation of pseudoephedrine in the production of meth. If the database is ineffective, why? Perhaps more money and time should be spent fixing this method of controlling illicit use o Mar-11-2011
