| For | A school is a place for both formal and social education. It really is the most appropriate place to have standardized sexual education so that children make the best decisions possible when they are ready to have sex. It will help reduce the amount of misinformation that leads young adults into unsafe sexual practices. I highly support this bill. | May-17-2011 |
| Against | Sexual education belongs at Home, not the public schools! | May-02-2011 |
| Against | This is so not the funcion or role of the school. It is the role of the parent. The students are can't read, write, or do math, and you want to add some politically motivated curriculum that has no place in the schools. Vote NO on AB314 and start thinking about a real education for our children. | Apr-28-2011 |
| Against | This seems to be the typical sanitized and misleading information being put out by the legislative body on another law that will strip parental influence over our children education, and here specifically sex education. Our education system is unable to teach our pupils the basic "three R's" that we all send our kids to school for, but get illiterate kids back, with their heads full of distortions of our true history, and of course the proper application of condoms over cucumbers or bananas. This is absurd in the extreme. Get out of the sex education business. The only real result we got from this expansion of education is a multiplying of out of wedlock kids and ever increasing moral break down of society. | Apr-28-2011 |

| Against | Are there any parents in the house? Kids having sexual relations is responsible? What a misuse of logic and abuse of vocabulary. Sorry, I'm not naive to think that it just won't happen, but what parent truly wants their adolescent fornicating and perpetuating the STD production which is has truly gone viral? All the condom education in the world won't stop it either, and it is a false promise to lead kids or anyone on to think so. The marquee on Planned Parenthood's web site right now spouts: "STDS More than half of us will get one at some time in our lives." This is 'reproductive freedom'? Chastity prevents STDs 100% of the time. It's a sexually organic lifestyle. And it is GREEN for the environment and GREEN for marriages and families. Married couples who use Natural Family Planning, sans contraception, have a divorce rate around 3%. That's pro-woman and pro-family. And the vast use of the contraceptive pill's estrogen and progesterone hormones is increasing in concentration more and more in our waterways due to it being urinated in vast amounts into the water supply. It IS adversely affecting the reproductive systems of aquatic life, and it will only get worse. Google it yourself. AND the contraceptive pill is a known carcinogen (see the World Health Organization list of carcinogens). The pill is right there in the Group One carcinogen list with arsenic, asbestos, radium and many others. And this sex ed. bill WILL promote its use to perfectly healthy young women. What an oxymoron to a 'healthy' children and environment. This bill is backwards to healthy living and it will COST our society are more than we can afford. "Ways and Means" Senators, please vote NO on AB314. | Apr-27-2011 |

| Against | I oppose any sex ed bill that removes parental consent and I also oppose Planned Parenthood having any involvement in sex ed in our school system. Sex ed. training should be Bible based and is best taught by the church. | Apr-26-2011 |
| Against | The information this bill requires to be taught is not for Children of any age. This information should taught to their parents so they can better instruct their own children about sexual intimacy and STD's. | Apr-26-2011 |

| For | I support this bill so that our students can be educated about sexuality and the decisions they will make with respect to their own sexuality and practice, or non-practice. | Apr-10-2011 |
| Against | We object to changing the requirements for parents from requiring their permission for their children to attend these courses to requiring them to "opt-out." Also, we disagree with many of the comments that parents teach their children nothing about sex and relationships. Many parents are responsible about this and the public school is not the best place for sex education, as it delivers such education without any moral values attached. | Apr-10-2011 |

| For | I very strongly believe that thorough sex education empowers students to make better decisions. This is a serious issue for the future of Nevada. | Apr-08-2011 |
| For | Nevada has the second highest rate of teen pregnancy in the nation. If sexual education was required to have Academic standards in public school it would educate young people on important sex information including different types of contraceptives to help prevent teen pregnancy and also information on condoms which would also protect our teens from getting STDs. With out our teens knowing information about things that can protect them from life long issues and obstacles the more likely problems will occur that don't only effect the teens, but everyone in their life, like, friends, siblings, and other family members. Not only is it important for teens to learn about contraceptive and preventative help, but to know their body which includes how it works and how to identify ANY problem that could lead to transmission of a STD. Sexual education also gives teens the opportunity to ask questions about sex or their body if they have no one else to ask. There is no such thing as a stupid question, but I really hope that the person answering has truthful unbiased answers for Nevada's teens. Let's face it, they can have sex even if we don't think they will. With our teens armed with factious information it may help them to wait longer until they decide to have sex and if not they will still be more protected than a teen without any sexual education. | Apr-08-2011 |

| For | I grew up in a state that provides comprehensive sex education. I have had several close friends who did not have this opportunity. They rushed into sex, have unhealthy relationships, and have only recently learned the importance of STD testing. They are in their mid-twenties and have been sexually active since they were teenagers in high school. You cannot stop teenagers from having sex. However, you can educate them on the risks to greatly improve their chances to make healthier choices. Nevada's reputation as a state is low. It's low in regards to volunteering, gambling, and legal prostitution. It is time to include comprehensive sexual education to better support Nevada's youth. | Apr-08-2011 |

| For | Even though sex education is required in Nevada public schools now, it is not consistent across the state. Some students are getting partial information which is dangerous and misleading. | For | I support sexual education in Nevada! As a child, my parents never told me about sex and when I lost my virginity at age 14, I was only safe because of what the SHARE program and sex ed teachers had taught me. This is vital in our state, which has incredibly high teen pregnancy rates, and because of that, low high school graduation rates. | For | There is an OBVIOUS conservative voice and rhetoric behind the comments that are opposing this bill. In regards to such comments, NV has the number one teen pregnancy rate in the U.S. Currently, the "sex ed" provided at schools is insufficient, limited, and inadequate AND completely dictated by the State Board of Education. Abstinence-only programs DO NOT help our youth and young adults make wise decisions. Programs that include a comprehensive sexuality education component encompass lessons on making safer choices as well as abstinence. Your personal conservative and narrow-minded beliefs and biases should not infringe your children’s well-being. This is one of the reasons why we have such high rates of STDs/HIV/teen pregnancy and SUICIDE…youth and young adults do not have an outlet to learn and feel safe about sharing their experiences, along with the suppression of choices and education parents provide. You never know what your child/young adult does when you are not around or looking, and to believe that they will always have the knowledge to make an educated decision, especially when YOU are not providing them the education to stay safe, is absurd. Keep living in your clout of purity and do not oppress the rest of the students throughout the state of NV due to your illogic of what Planned Parenthood or any other comprehensive sex ed program teaches. | Apr-08-2011 |

| Against | Parents should be present during any health education of their children. Their presence is required at a doctor visit. Sex ed should not be provided in the schools. | Apr-08-2011 |

| Against | Sex education has gone too far in our public schools. Teaching anatomy and healthy relationships is all that should be taught. Planned Parenthood is a disgrace and should not even be funded by our federal government. This education program makes it very difficult for christian homes to keep some explicit information away from there child. Yes kids hear things from friends but parents teach children to come and talk with them and have discussions. Other adults should not be having these types of discussions with our children. One of the things they plan to promote is a internet sight called sexetc.org. I've been to this sight and it is very much not appropriate. This would be a great thing to just cut from the education budget. | Apr-08-2011 |
| For | As a former worker at Planned Parenthood in Salt Lake City, and worker at an inner-city hospital in Washington, D.C., I can testify that providing accurate and nonjudgmental sex education as part of curriculum is the best way to teach our youth how to make educated choices. This is not a moral or religious issue, but one of public health and education. Teach a child how to make reasoned and thoughtful decisions, and that child will grow up to be a valuable member of society. | Apr-08-2011 |
| For | Apr-08-2011 | |
| For | I raised three children in the Nevada public school system (they received an amazing education. Thank you.) and feel that it's time for a comprehensive sexual education program. I taught my children, but not every parent or caregiver has the knowledge or awareness, and even if they do, it's excellent to get the correct information from more than one trusted source. | Apr-08-2011 |
| For | Sex education is school is vital to a young person's development. It gives teens and young adults the tools they need to make positive choices about their sexual health. Accurate sex education is important because it will help prevent STD's and HIV, and unwanted pregnancy, especially amongst adolescents. | Apr-08-2011 |
| For | Comprehensive Sex Education is necessary in schools. It gives young people medically accurate information to make positve choices with their health. Tweens, adolescents, and young adults should be well informed and well educated about their reproductive health, in order to learn about their anotomy & puberty, encourage abstinence, prevent STD's & HIV/AIDS, and prevent unwanted pregnancy. | Apr-08-2011 |
| For | Apr-08-2011 | |

| Against | Apr-08-2011 | |
| For | Abstinence only education DOES NOT WORK. Every study ever done proves this. This bill will NOT bring Planned Parenthood into schools, it will NOT ignore abstinence, it will be COMPREHENSIVE. And parents can opt out. | Apr-08-2011 |
| For | Apr-08-2011 | |
| For | Sex Education is needed in the school system. With all the diseases and underage pregnancy we must educate our children. | Apr-07-2011 |
| Against | This bill attempts to fix something that isn't broken: the current curriculum and local review works well. This bill is a Trojan horse for Planned Parenthood to gain controlling influence over Nevada sex ed curriculum and eliminate the expression of any opposing points of view. Moreover, it undermines parental oversight of the program. It's a bad bill. | Apr-07-2011 |
| For | The sex education I experienced back in 2001 here in Nevada was very limited. We learned about our reproductive system and to not have sex and that there were contraceptives, but the teachers could not tell us about them. They did not stress potential dangers of oral sex; they did not give alternatives to abstinence. I had a friend in high school that had been using two condoms when he would have sex because he thought it meant extra protection. I find that deplorable. We stress education in math, science, English, but what about what is closest to home; our bodies. We are here because of sex and it is a very important topic that teens should understand. I might have waited longer to be sexually active if I had had a better sex education. I might have understood the risks more thoroughly. Even STD's are not clearly gone over in sex-ed, which makes no sense if they are trying to prevent us from jumping head first into exploration. If our goal is to have less teen mothers, less abortions, less teens getting STDs we need to teach them all the risks and all the ways they should protect themselves. We will have a lot less of a cost to society if we can make this happen. The few things that hit home for me was the teen mother that visited our class, and the electronic baby we could take home. We need to get past the edges of this subject, and make it real to our youth, so they do not have to find out for themselves. | Apr-07-2011 |
| For | Apr-07-2011 | |
| For | As a man who has made Nevada his home and hopes to one day raise a family here I feel a full and complete education is important for our community’s future. I'm hopeful the current legislature will make the right decision and support AB 314, enabling our youth to make healthy decisions based on appropriate knowledge and perspective. | Apr-07-2011 |
| Against | I do not want to sacrifice our “Worth the Wait” program. It is a wonderful, educational program, one that should continue! | Apr-07-2011 |
| For | I support standardized and comprehensive sex education in Nevada's schools. | Apr-07-2011 |
| For | I stand with Planned Parenthood and I stand with Real Sex Ed. I am a product of CCSD and I know what me and my sister did not get in school. We must give our kids information to make good decisions! | Apr-07-2011 |
| For | As a conservative republican I support sex ed because informed students are safe healthy students. | Apr-07-2011 |
| For | As a Christian, I feel it is important to not push my moral views on others but rather allow sex education in schools. I attended a private Christian school in my early teens and the teaching of abstinence until marriage did NOT work. 13 and 14 year olds began sexually experimenting with each other, resulting in pregnancies, STDs and STIs due to a lack of education. If parents wish to teach abstinence at home to their children, they should do so. But being educated about sexuality is essential, especially with what children and teenagers are exposed to daily in NV (especially Vegas) on billboards and other forms of advertisement. | Apr-07-2011 |
| For | Everyone deserves access to medically accurate, age-appropriate comprehensive sex education. Accurate sex education would help lower the number of teen pregnancies and the unnecessary spread of STDs. | Apr-07-2011 |
| For | As a educator in the Clark County School District, I can say from personal experience that the children in Nevada need better sex education. Education is power and providing the knowledge to make better health choices will lead to better physical, mental and emotional outcomes. Unintended pregnancy is very high in Nevada and I have taught many of these pregnant students or fathers-to-be who are in high school, dealing with pregnancy, and scared about how they are going to secure a future for their new family. The did not have access to the knowledge and services to make a safer choice that could have led to a different future for them. I have taught classes where I have had 6 or more pregnant teens in one classroom. This could have been prevented with proper use of birth control. Humans are sexual beings from a young age and to deny this fact and not talk about sex because we think it will lead to lower levels of teen sexual behavior, we are wrong. It has been empirically researched by federal government to whether abstinence-only education is effective and it was found to not reduce teen pregnancy. Pregnancy is not the only issue here; sexually transmitted infections, unhealthy relationships, and lack of sexual health knowledge is leading to an unhealthy future for Nevada's youth. HIV/AIDS is on the raise still and HPV is more prevalent than ever, a sign that these incurable and potentially deadly viruses are being transmitted due to lack of use of barrier birth control methods. Knowledge is power and it is better that the children learn from a qualified sex educator than their peers and the internet. I ask you to support AB314 and improve our sex education in Nevada. | Apr-07-2011 |

| For | Nevada students deserve an honest consistent education and this includes medically-accurate health information in regard to sexual education. At this time, Nevada has the 2nd highest teen pregnancy rate in the country. Anything the legislature can do to help improve this by ensuring our children have the most accurate information is crucial. Please pass AB314 to help Nevada gain consistency in its sexual education curriculum and prevent children from unplanned pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections through education that makes a difference: comprehensive, medically accurate health information that includes abstinence but also the consequences of not choosing abstinence. | Apr-07-2011 |
| Against | I believe that the legislature should reject this bill since many constituents would conscientiously object to a Sex Ed. class that potentially eliminates ethics from the curriculum in favor of cultural trends. Abstinence only education has a proven track record of reducing sexual activity and the results there of, including teen pregnancy, abortion, STD's, depression, and even suicide. Please consider wisely. | Apr-07-2011 |

| Against | Contrary to what Planned Parenthood would have you believe, Comprehensive Sex Education has not been proven to work beyond increasing the use of condoms for a six month period. And, though statistics "may" show a decline in teen pregnancy rates with condom use, STD rates have gone through the roof to epidemic levels! Condoms do not protect and our youth are paying the price in their bodies and the rest of us are paying the price with our tax dollars. Comprehensive Sex Education does not work, for teen pregnancy or STD's. Look closely at the studies, Abstinence Education has a better track record. Comprehensive Sex Education is not healthy for Nevada students. Please vote "no" for this bill. | Apr-07-2011 |
| For | Nevada has the second highest teenage pregnancy rate in the nation. Comprehensive sex education actually helps young people delay sexual activity OR make responsible decisions if they become sexually active. We know half of teen pregnancies occur because of abuse in the young person’s home life or with her partner. “Just say no” to sex is not always realistic. Studies also show that more than half of unintended pregnancies are from failed contraceptive use— young people need medically accurate information | Apr-07-2011 |

Currently, students are being sufficiently educated about STDs, pregnancy, disease, abstinence, etc. Why do we need to change this bill? It is unnecessary and allows for decisions that supersede parental responsibility and authority. | Apr-06-2011 |
| For | Nevada has an obscenely high teenage pregnancy rate, and educating teens is the best way I see to lower it. It is in our state's best interest for our future working force, female and male, to be educated about pregnancy prevention. | Apr-06-2011 |
| For | Beyond my personal belief that this type of comprehensive informatino is vital for the success of our youth in making responsible decisions when trusted adults are not around; here are some highlights if no one else has presented them already. • Nevada has the second highest teenage pregnancy rate in the nation. • Comprehensive sex education actually helps young people delay sexual activity OR make responsible decisions if they become sexually active. • We know half of teen pregnancies occur because of abuse in the young person's home life or with her partner. "Just say no" to sex is not always realistic. • Studies also show that more than half of unintended pregnancies are from failed contraceptive use- young people need medically accurate information. | Apr-06-2011 |

| Against | This bill was written by a Planned Parenthood employee and I do not agree with their viewpoint. Teachers in Carson City are taking a sex education class for continuing education credits which is Planned Parenthood's curriculum called Sexuality ABC's and STD Basics. Their description of how to arouse heterosexual and homosexual pleasure on sexect.com, and their animated video of a penis dressed as a man, and a women whose dress is a vagina, explaining the process of pregnancy is visually and auditively arousing, ending with suggestions of sexually connecting. This is not what our children need to be so called educated on. | Apr-06-2011 |

| Against | I've read some of the information that is included in this bill and I am adament about not having this bill pass! | Apr-06-2011 |
| Against | This bill allows for Planned Parenthood to come into our schools and teach students how to use condoms and contraceptives. Planned Parenthood has consistently shown their bias against abstinence. Planned Parenthood has a track record of promoting homosexuality and sex outside of marriage. My family and I are completely AGAINST this bill. | Apr-06-2011 |
| Against | The changes requested in this bill remove local choice and decision making from the school districts. They will no longer be able to choose curricula that best represents their communities and meets the needs of their students if the program is not authorized as 'comprehensive' enough. Local control and decision making should not be ursurped. | Apr-06-2011 |

| For | Let's provide our children with correct medical facts about there body and about disease. Sex ed doesn't promote sex. Please support this bill. | Apr-06-2011 |
| For | It is vital that we educate our young people regarding all of their options. I especially like the inclusion of sexual violence and domestic violence in this bill. Students need to know what to do if they themselves or someone they know is a victim of any of those crimes. | Apr-06-2011 |
| For | Nevada desperately needs better sex education, and they need it as teens. This would ensure that Nevada teens learn medically accurate, educationally appropriate information on STDs, contraception, how to talk to their parents about all of this, how to prevent dating violence and sexual violence, and what the laws are around these issues. | Apr-06-2011 |

| For | I took a course like this when I was in school, many years ago. Why are we still keeping kids in the dark about things they are doing that could harm them or their lives? | Apr-05-2011 |
