For The mining industry is getting too good a deal--on the backs of the rest of us. Let's make them pay their fair share so that we residents of the state can share in the benefits they are taking away. We need the money desperately, and Nevadans are suffering needlessly because of this nepotism to the mining industry. Apr-17-2011
For Apr-17-2011
For A thousand times yes. The mining industry is getting away with murder based on the current formula. Who did they pay off to get that deal??????????? Apr-16-2011

For Apr-15-2011
For Apr-15-2011
For The long protection of mining profits must be re-examined and changed. The state needs the additional sources of revenue and must look at all sources. In addition the Constitutional protect for mining taxes must be repealed. No other industry is protected in the Constitution. Apr-14-2011
For Apr-14-2011
For I can't stress how "FOR" I am in supporting this bill. Make mining pay their fair share, they are robbing this state blind with how much money in resources they are taking out without paying any tax. Use the new funds to fund education and give the children of Nevada a better future! Apr-14-2011
For We raised taxes on the casino industry. We should raise taxes on the mining industry as well. Apr-13-2011
For Revisions to the taxing of minerals should be made. The money should go to help fund our EDUCATION cuts. Apr-13-2011
For Mining is not paying their fair share and education is loosing money. I am a student and would like to see Nevada reap some of the profits that mining is pocketing. Apr-13-2011
For These minerals are not an unlimited resource. Let's charge for them. If the current companies don't want to pay, others will step in as this is a capitalist society. Apr-13-2011
For Apr-13-2011
For Absolutely SUPPORT!! Mining is raking in huge profits while paying less than the current sales tax in Nevada! At least make it equal -- an 8% tax on gross proceeds. We all pay tax on our gross income, not our net. Apr-13-2011

For Apr-12-2011
For Shame on Sandoval, using his own political ambitions to cozy up with the Mining industry and savage education Apr-12-2011
For Apr-12-2011
Against Oh great, a bill attacking the one of our few Nevada success stories! Just about the only industry in our state that does not depend on foreign materials and pays a decent wage, so this bill comes up to attack it! It would make MUCH MORE SENSE to dust off the Nevada Public Lands Act and pass IT instead. DO NOT schedule any hearing on AB428, DO NOT pass AB428 Apr-12-2011
For Apr-11-2011
For The mining companies can shoulder a bit more of the funds for the state. Apr-11-2011
For Mines MUST pay their fair share!!! They are making tons while education is being short-changed!! Apr-11-2011
Against Raising taxes on mining is not the solution to our state's budget problems. Mining provides good jobs for Nevada. Let's not punish employers in Nevada with higher taxes. Cut spending! That is how to solve our budget problems. Nevada Public Research Institute (NPRI) has many suggestions on how to cut state spending that would be beneficial for our citizens, especially our property owning citizens and tax-paying citizens. Apr-10-2011
For The mining industry receives exemptions other industries don't receive in our state. We are in a new era where special privledges for mining can't be supported at the expense of school cuts and health and human services!! If Republicans want teachers and state workers to make sacrifices during this budget crisis then the mining industry can share that burden too with AB428. Apr-10-2011
For PLEASE support this now! Nevada has privileged the interests of a handful of mining companies over the public good for far, far, far too long. As a result, they're now making record profits while the state is dismantling elementary, secondary, and higher education. Apr-10-2011
For Apr-09-2011
For This is an essential bill for revision of the state taxation of mining. Apr-08-2011
Against Nevada's mines are the only thing that has kept the recession from hitting harder. The unemployement rate is far less in Elko County where most of the mines are located than other areas of the state because of this. Apr-08-2011
For It's time this law is changed, NV is losing huge revenue, with all profits going out of state and out of country. Apr-07-2011
For Education in NV is worth its weight in gold! Let's support our schools, not temporary extractive industries. Apr-07-2011
For Apr-07-2011
For This is long over due Apr-06-2011
For The state needs a broader tax base so our educational system doesn't get gutted and important health and human services are not eliminated. Experienced full-time faculty are losing their jobs who are most in tune with our students. Programs are getting eliminated forcing our local students to go out of state. Firms who need an educated and skilled work force will locate elsewhere if we don't have the colleges to teach them. We need this as one of many measures to help the state's dire budget woes. Apr-06-2011
For Mines need to pay their fare share of taxes. This is an extractive industry that will be gone once the resource is gone. There should be no deductions. If they can't make money with gold way over $1000, there is something wrong with their management. Apr-06-2011

For I appreciate that our legislators were voted in on a promise of no new taxes, but, with the budget deficit at a crippling condition combine with the facts that our state has the least amount of government per capita and one of the least amount of taxes, I do not believe that passing any bill for additional taxes (within reason) will have as negative an impact as cutting current programs and public employees. Apr-06-2011

For Mining needs to step up to the plate, we have helped them for many years -- now you help the people within the state in which you have taken billions. We need you to give us a hand -- not your back! Your business resides within our backyard, we -- the people are in need desperately. Look at our housing, our education, our community services, our health services, our air quality, all in dire straights -- time to give back don't you agree? I ASK OUR POLITICIANS TO VOTE YES. A YES VOTE FOR THE PEOPLE Apr-06-2011

For As a registered Republican, I am apalled that the unelected Nevada Tax Commission passed the regulations that allowed more deductions and loopholes to the Mining Industry. The Mining Industry already has the Constitutional cap of 5%. There's no need for the state government to provide additional deductions. Apr-05-2011

For As a native Nevadan and professional, I pay a significant amount of taxes and expect mining corporations who strip Nevadan land of it's resources to pay a fair amount. Thank you. Apr-04-2011
For Although a number of our elected officials were elected based on their stance on no new taxes, and in light of our state's budget deficit and the fact that we have one of the smallest government foot print in the nation, I believe it is time to look at increasing taxes where it will hurt the least. Apr-04-2011

For Mines are not paying their share of taxes. They will not leave NV. Apr-03-2011
For It is scandalous and a betrayal to Nevadans that we pay them to mine our public lands. They can't take their business elsewhere, and we are asking a FAIR payment for devastating our lands. Apr-03-2011
For It's past time for mining to pay their fair share of taxes on their profit from this Nevada non-renewable resource, especially considering that the revenue they make is taken out of state and not put back into the Nevada economy. Apr-03-2011

For The mining industry needs to pay its fair share of taxes to help us out of this economic crisis and keep the taxes and fees of small businesses and working people from going up. Mar-29-2011
For This seems much more appropriate for short term needs, but long-term, taxation limitations definitely need to be removed from the NV Constitution. Mar-29-2011
For This is a reasonable solution to the problem that has dogged Nevada for decades. It removes the billionaire mining tycoons ability to pay no taxes through the use of excessive tax deductions. Mar-29-2011

For Mining currently contributes about 1/2 of a percent of all taxes collected by the State of Nevada because they're allowed to use unfair deductions. Rather than defunding Nevada's public K-12 schools, please take appropriate taxes from the mining industry Mar-28-2011
For No Comment Mar-28-2011
For EVERYONE must shoulder the stress and burdens our state faces. ANY industry -- any industry which relies upon the infrastructure, the public institutions, and the labor of Nevada for it's livlihood -- should be part of the Nevada family and pay it's fair share of the the bills. Mar-27-2011

For Our state cannot keep cutting education as a way of "balancing our budget." It's time to step up to the plate and stop beating our state's poor economy into the dirt. The mining industry needs to pull its fair share of Nevada's financial crises. Mar-27-2011
For As a small business owner I pay 30% in taxes. It burns me up when I hear of large international corporations paying nothing. How unfair! Mar-27-2011
For How is the mining industry contributing to this state. All of the mining companies are foreign owned. The only way that they contribute is through the taxes they pay, of which they pay almost nothing after write-offs and deductions. We need to amend the constitution and make the mining industry contribute to the state that is making them a fortune. Mar-27-2011
For Mining must pay its fair share. This bill helps to make this possible. Mar-27-2011

Against I believe mining should be taxed more. We are in desperate need of more revenue, and taxing mining won't cause them to move out of Nevada (the nature of the resource makes that infeasible). Mar-25-2011
For Decrease mining's tax deductions--we shouldn't subsidize a profitable industry! The State's social services & education systems will ensure economic growth. Mar-25-2011

For I have faith in my legislators (Oceguera, Parks, and Manendo) that they will support this bill. However, if you choose not to, unless it is for a more draconian bill that finally makes mining pay its fair share, expect me to campaign door-to-door against you at my own expense for the rest of your lives. For I support this bill to reduce deductions on mining. I favor this bill over any cuts to education. Mar-24-2011
For I support a balanced approach to our state's work and budget. Carefully invest, yes. But we need to raise revenues to avoid the worst cuts. Mar-24-2011
For Mining needs to pay more, and education needs the money! Mar-24-2011

For For too long mining has pillaged the land & exploited this states natural resources. Where other countries have a tax on gold upward of 30%, this would only be a necessary beginning to topple the institution that has so long been let loose. Mar-24-2011
For AB 428: Revises formula for determining tax on net proceeds of minerals extracted. This reduction in allowable mining deductions would take a huge chunk out of the education budget cuts and it would begin to bring the mining companies toward what they should be paying in taxes. Mar-24-2011

For It's time mining companies pay their fair share of taxes for extracting non-renewable resources from our state. Nevada STATE is the 3rd largest producer of gold in the world, after the CONTINENTS of Australia and Africa, and the second largest producer of silver in the US after Alaska. Considering that, why IS there a budget crisis in this state? Why don't NV residents get yearly payouts as do Alaska residents? Mar-23-2011
For No Comment Mar-23-2011
For Silver hit an all time high today. Gold is within 1% of it's all time mark. Yet, according to Gov. Sandoval, mining is paying its "fair share" of taxes in NV to pay next to nothing??? Mar-23-2011
For It is absolutely ridiculous the amount of deductions the mining industry receives. They benefit from the wealth of our state, and do not contribute to it's prosperity. As a result, the rest of the State, and it's education system, is suffering. Mar-23-2011
For No Comment Mar-23-2011
For STOP cutting education and start taking appropriate taxes from the mining industry. Mar-23-2011
For This reduction in allowable mining deductions would take a considerable chunk out of the amount away from the stated budget cuts and I think that everyone should equally share in the sacrifices made by during this time of economic hardship. If everyone does their part we as a whole will not be as affected. Mar-23-2011
For The recent cuts affecting a large portion of the state's needed social services should be made less detrimental by increases to the taxes owed by the mining industry. Mar-23-2011
For This tax formula is in need of revision; it is not clear if mining is paying a fair share of taxes and current tax policy towards the mining industry is not good policy, as deductions make it possible for mining companies to pay zero taxes at all. Mar-23-2011
For Nevada needs an increase in tax revenue through mining. Mar-23-2011
For No Comment Mar-23-2011
For Despite the Governor's contention, zero taxes is not a "fair share" for mining. Our state is too broke to continue to allow mining to pay so little in taxes. Mar-23-2011
For This is a step in the right direction in ensuring that the mining companies pay their fair share. Mar-23-2011
