| For | I am a IT III and I can tell you most of the IT people send most of their day BSing or going to uneccessary meetings. | Mar-19-2013 |
| For | Mar-04-2013 | |
| Against | Feb-24-2013 | |
| Against | Is this how you want to compensate good workers? I don't think so. | Feb-18-2013 |
| Against | Feb-18-2013 | |
| Against | Infringes on workers rights to be properly compensated for overtime work in the Computer industry. | Feb-18-2013 |
| Against | We already have a very difficult time hiring IT professionals due to the low wage scales compared to the rest of the country. This will only add to the difficulty. | Feb-18-2013 |
| Against | When our job demands that we get a system back up so the citizens have services in the morning then the State needs to pony up the funds -- or just leave the citizens without those services, but do NOT have us work away from our families on our own time when private industry already pays average $20,000 more than the State.. $63,000 more for my job! | Feb-18-2013 |
| Against | This is wrong on so many levels, especially for state workers. If we were paid a reasonable wage, to make up for the extra hours, I could see it but not as it stands now. | Feb-18-2013 |
| Against | Just because they are highly skilled and well paid does NOT give the State the right to allow employers to turn these workers into slaves. When you eliminate the requirement to pay computer workers overtime, their hours will be steadily increased and the number of jobs decreased accordingly. This is BAD policy and BAD for Nevada. | Feb-18-2013 |
| For | It is imperative that Nevada become more competitive in technolgoy areas. This serves to support that effort by aligning costs with the states around us. I am a computer scientist with over 25 years of professional experience in the government and private sectors. | Feb-15-2013 |
| Against | Bringing NV law in compliance with US law violates the intent of the 10th Amendment, especially since this particular US law rests on a shaky constitutional foundation. Is NV not competent to decide its own labor laws? | Feb-13-2013 |
| Against | Computing positions should not be re-classified. There is no just cause for treating persons working in computing fields different than other positions. If companies want to prevent just compensation for the computing positions they hire for, then they should restructure their positions such that all employees in computing are salaried. This bill singles out people in a specific field without reasonable justification. If you're considering a vote in support for this bill, might I consider the removal of all of NRS 608.018. Government should not involve itself in nitpicking what positions qualify for overtime pay or what overtime pay must be. If an employer chooses to offer over time at 1.25x original pay, that should be their choice. Government stay of out it. This bill just doesn't represent Nevada. | Feb-10-2013 |
| Against | Feb-08-2013 | |
| Against | Didn't realize "Drivers of taxicabs or limousines" were not paid overtime. This job category was already in. | Feb-05-2013 |
| Against | It seems to remove safeguards against businesses abusing employees. Now in the time of more people unemployed, certain businesses can and do take advantage of others. | Jan-17-2013 |
