| Against | This bill does not protect the religious liberties of churches, religious organizations, or individuals beyond performing the same-gender marriage. For instance it does NOT protect: A church or religious organization which operates an adoption or foster care service from being forced to place children with same-sex “married” couples. In Illinois , Catholic Charities had to abandon their adoption and foster care services. A religious school from being forced to hire a person in a same-sex “marriage” from teaching at the school. A religious organization, like Knights of Columbus, from being forced to offer their hall for a same-sex wedding reception. It does not protect a person’s religious belief who owns a business such as photography, wedding planning, or cake decorating, from being targeted and forced through a lawsuit to offer services to same-sex couples. This happened in New Mexico . This is a wholesale loss of our religious liberties. Please oppose SJR13 which not only overturns Nevada ’s marriage amendment but now puts same sex marriage into the Nevada Constitution and makes it the constitutional standard. It jeopardizes the rights of religious liberty. Please respect the will of the people who voted overwhelmingly to support marriage between a man and a woman. Thank you | May-10-2013 |

| Against | In truth the Civil War settled the issue concerning states being subject to the federal government. I don't agree with the feds heavy handed way of keeping public lands in the state, but my views on the subject of states to the feds is stronger. The states to have certain rights to though. | May-04-2013 |
| Against | I am totally against SJR13. This state already has an amendment defining marriage as between a man and a woman. This is for the purpose of the survival of the species. Government should not interfere with a redefinition of the family. I will be watching your action on this bill with interest. | Apr-27-2013 |

| Against | The voters voted AGAINST the re-definition of marriage in Nevada and I would hope you would stand by their opinion. Civil Unions are fine, but true marriage is between a man and a woman. | Mar-25-2013 |

We the People of Nevada simply must be informed on these programs, authored by UN - powers outside of our state and our nation. | Mar-21-2013 |

| For | I am for this bill. However- I am finding it ironic that this resolution is being presented in the same legislative session that we are hearing all about and adopting more and more policies governing FOR, Common Core. | For | These are critical times. It is evident the Federal Branch wants to destroy the States. If they bring each and every state to its knees;they will continue their consolidation of POWER. The destruction of a Nation because we have abdicated our responsibilities. PEOPLE see the detriment to our future & the damage to that of our posterity. PLEASE MAKE NO DELAY. Our Constitution has become a straw man for a politicized judiciary; making interpretations according to legislative & executive special interest (that is putting it mildly). Rule of Law has already yielded to 'RULE OF MEN". The terminus of the latter being tyranny as BLATANTLY evidenceD. You're very late in taking ACTION. The PEOPLE have not changed the Constitution; it has been changed by those who would usurp it's authority in the cloak of "Protectionism". Creeping; "introduced by slow degrees, step by step," unable to see it approach. You have willingly accepted the solemn task. You have a responsibility to avoid unethical choices and neglect of duty. History will judge you according to how you act. Will you act to defend the PEOPLE, the CONSTITUTION, YOU SWORE AN OATH TO? Or will you cower begging for hand outs-That money belongs to the PEOPLE-DEMAND IT. I sincerely fear for you. There is GOD. I believe this with every fiber of my being. He will stand with those who regard TRUTH! DC-THE SERVANT OF THE PEOPLE, Did you forget? If Fifty States say "NO! we are abiding by the Constitution." What will They Do? Threaten US! Thank You All. 333 to 11 Thank YOU. Thank you | Feb-26-2013 |

Thge states and the people have the right and the responsibility to make sure these boundaries are not overstepped. Friday I saw a list of states who have introduced legislation several bills each, (and some has passed) to limit federal enforcement of TSA searches, NDAA, firearms limits, Drones, etc. BUT, Nevada has introduced NONE! What is wrong? Nevada has been asleep. In the past Nevada was know as a state of the FREE! Please get to work! Void federal mandates the federal does not pay for. You can start with the schools. | For | It is absolutely vital that the State of Nevada take its power back from a far overreaching federal government and bureacracy. This resolution is just a first step in notifying the federal government that the State of Nevada recognizes the clear intent of the 10th Amendment and Article 4 of the the U.S. Constitution. WE THE PEOPLE demand that you represent the State and the people of the State of Nevada and refuse to accept laws from the federal government that are not enumerated by the constitution and therefore unconstitutional. I hope the Legislature and the Governor go even further and enact into law provisions and penalties that prevent the federal government from usurping the laws of the State of Nevada and violating the U.S. Constitution. A resolution is not adequate to accomplish that result. Thank you! | Feb-10-2013 |
| For | The clear position by the State of Nevada on our constitutionally enumerated right of the State and the individual needs to be unequivicolly passed. A large bipartisan majority vote to pass this bill and have it signed into law by our Governor is essential to ensure our law of the land is upheld. | Feb-10-2013 |
| For | Congress forgets that they took an oath to uphold the Constitution but then they probably never read the Constitution. | For | It is critical in this era of an imperial presidency that those elected to state legislatures and state constituional offices, regardless of party affiliation or political philospohy defend the rights protected under the US Constitution. Furthermore, past lethargic defenseof these rights shall never be constued as a relinquishment, resignation or vacation of the rights. Neither the President or a majority in Congress should assume that by statute, intimidation, regulation or purchase are these rights transferable or extinguishable. | Feb-09-2013 |

| For | I fully support SJR 3. The Constitution is not here to empower the Federal Government, but rather, it limits the power that the Federal Government has, giving the majority of the power to the individual States. The States formed the Federal Government and its purpose is to serve the States. However, it seems to me that during my lifetime the Federal Government has forced the States and the people of the States to become servants to the Federal Government. Because of this movement perpetrated by the Federal Government, We The People are losing our Liberties and Freedom. This why it is so important that the Great State of Nevada pass SJR 3. Our Founding Fathers fought and died to guarantee us the Liberties and Freedom that America has enjoyed for so many years. Let us not let their efforts be in vain. | Feb-09-2013 |

Sovereignty under the Tenth Amendment is no longer just a right, it's an assertion that has to be made with authority to restore people's faith in Government and to acknowledge and recommit to the limited responsibilities of Government. | Feb-09-2013 |

| For | While not legally necessary, I think it prudent to pass this resolution. We do not live in a military dictatorship under a military commander known as the President of the United States. This is not a partisan issue like some of those oppose have stated in their opinion filings. This join resolution is simply a statement that Nevada remains a free and sovereign state who has only granted certain _enumerated_ rights to the United States federal government. Those rights not expressly granted to the federal government are and always have been those of the State or the people if the State was not granted those rights by the people. | Feb-09-2013 |
| For | While states are not sovereign over objects that the federal government legitimately can address under the constitution, the constitution has been illegitimately reinterpreted to make the scope of the federal government illegitimately large. Such an expansion in scope should be done with constitutional amendments, not constitutional reinterpretations. This bill sends an appropriate message, that the federal government often treads in areas best left to the states, and constitutionally appropriate to leave to the states. | Feb-09-2013 |

| For | This bill further clarifies that we have 3 American branches of Gov't, We the People, the State gov't, and the Fed Gov't and we the people have the sovereign power and through our State and Fed Constitutions we have contracted with these two levels of gov't to do a limited number of items. If these two levels of Gov't do not adhere to their contractual limited duties, we the people hold them in violation of their contract. So let all duly elected acknowledge to hold to their prescribed duties and not go beyond. Gov't is the most dangerous monopoly, and that is why you are LIMITED by your constitutional contract. Let's get back to good constitutional gov't. Thus we the people declare 'Obamacare" as unconstitutional for clearly the Fed Gov't has NO power to mandate that we the people have to buy health insurance. | Feb-09-2013 |

| For | As a resident of Senate District: 17 and constituent of Senator James A. Settelmeyer I would like to express my whole hearted support for SJR 3 Claiming sovereignty under the Tenth Amendment to the United States Constitution. I like so many, over the last four years, fear the intolerable expansion of the federal government’s authority over the states. It is my understanding that Washington, New Hampshire, Arizona, Montana, Michigan, Missouri, Oklahoma, Minnesota, Georgia, South Carolina, and Texas have all introduced or passed bills and resolutions asserting their sovereignty as states under the Tenth Amendment. The 10th Amendment protects the rights of the states, which are the rights of the people, by limiting the power of the federal government. I feel strongly that Nevada should join the list of states that are standing up to the out of control and overreaching federal government. I hope this bill states in no uncertain terms that Nevada will not submit to the repressive, overextended and unconstitutional demands of the federal government and to “cease and desist” from the reckless government expansion and also indicate that federal laws and regulations implemented in violation of the 10th Amendment can be nullified by the states. | Feb-09-2013 |

Our (Republican) Governor has set us on a path to implement the disastrously costly mandates of obamacare, and of medicaid under obamacare which supposedly will be funded by the feds in full for the first three years and only partially funded thereafter, and which means an undetermined and unpredictable unfunded mandate in the "out years." Of course this is nothing but a page out of Alinsky's book, Rules for Radicals; to overload the system until it collapses. They do it at the federal level with the unlimited spending, borrowing and printing of fiat money. They do it at the state level with the unfunded mandates. There are also a number of bills about to be brought up in this session of the NV legislature, whose only purpose is to bring NV law in line with US law. WHY??? Only to ensure the continued flow of federal dollars, even if they only partially fund their mandates, even if we can't sustain the financial burden, even if the programs are not quite right for us in our circumstances. IV failed to provide for elected representatives who represent the people of their respective states, given that SJR3 is a verbatim boilerplate resolution from the discredited, American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC), a committee directly connecting state representatives to of the world's most powerful corporations--whose sole fiduciary duty is to their shareholders at the expense of their employees, the communities in which they do business, the environment as well as the general welfare of the United States of America. | Against | what is this, a pander to the tea party? Do you realize that A state does NOT have to pass a 10th Amendment resolution to claim exemption to unconstitutional federal mandates. Notice the sentence following regarding New York.... which had NOT passed a sovereignty resolution: "This was what happened with New York v. United States, 112 S. Ct. 2408 (1992). The federal government was attempting to mandate that the State of New York accept radioactive waste for disposal. New York pleaded they were exempt from the mandate under the Tenth Amendment and the court affirmed the Tenth Amendment protection. Thus, by having proclaimed sovereignty, a state is in the position to select those mandates they will follow, now by choice, not by edict. " | Feb-07-2013 |
