For Support AB 170! We need more nurse practitioners available for the public health. This will not stop teamwork! NPs are trained to consult or refer when it is appropriate and nothing in this bill changes that fact. May-20-2013
For May-14-2013
For This is important to pass through the legislature this session. The opposition is based on false premise and outdated tradition. Do the right thing for the people of Nevada. May-14-2013
Against This is not the way to address a shortage of health care providers. Fix or repeal Obamacare. Nurses are not doctors and are not prepared to practice medicine. May-09-2013
For I support this bill, as a nurse practitioner specializing in child and adolescent mental health, I was unable to practice in a rural setting when my collaborating psychiatrist died unexpectedly. Please support this bill May-07-2013
For May-07-2013
For I have worked in the health care industry and am now retired after 30 years. I worked with people with diabetes and the chronic problems that are part of this disease. APN's play a vital role in disease state management and should be given more freedom to care for patients in general and diabetes patients in particular. I also have had hospice help with my own mother recently and greatly valued the help of my APN in managing her end of life issues. Without her input and constant interaction, I would not have been able to take care of my mother at home. May-05-2013
For We need more primary care providers in the State of Nevada, we need more specialists and we NEED advanced practice nurses to have autonomous practice, we do not need physicians mandating this for us. We provide exemplary and much needed service to our constituents May-05-2013
For May-05-2013
For May-05-2013
For When I need to see someone for healthcare I usually try to see an APN. The APNs seem more focused on trying to keep me healthy in addition to helping me with the problem I came to see them about. APNs are highly trained nurses and nurses are the most trusted profession because they care, do the right thing and are honest. APNs score higher than physicians! Check it out! http://www.gallup.com/poll/1654/honesty-ethics-professions.aspx May-05-2013
For Advanced Practice Nurses receive a lot of training as a Registered Nurse, practical experience dealing with patients, medications and treatments. RNs collaborate on a regular basis everyday. This solid base is expanded upon during their graduate studies and clinical training so that when an APN graduates with their Masters degree or Doctorate degree they are well trained to practice immediately without supervision. 24 states have laws that allow APNs to practice to the full extent of their education and training and none of them have changed the laws to be more restrictive. PLEASE PASS THIS BILL!! May-05-2013
For May-04-2013
For Getting into my Primary Care Doctor is difficult at times. However getting to see her Nurse Practitioner is very easy and I can also make an appointment in the evenings. i am a senior and need to see someone quickly at times. Having a Nurse Pract makes my life easier and I feel the quality of care is there. May-03-2013

For Key message points: 1. This bill is about access to health care for Nevadans. 2. This bill does not change an APNs scope of practice. 3. They are Advanced Practice Nurses practicing advanced practice nursing. 4. AB 170 does not create new roles for APNs. It removes unnecessary restriction. May-01-2013
For Nevada needs to have advanced practice nurses like my Mom stay here and practice independently. May-01-2013
For Our advance practice nurses can provide well rounded care to the people of Nevada. May-01-2013
For pass this bill because it will for NP to open there own clinics and not have to pay for a doctor to just come and sign charts once a month for a large fee, therefore more clinics more options for Nevadans May-01-2013
For Apr-30-2013
For Fully support this bill, it is already law in other states, why not Nevada? While NPs do the actual patient care, they must pay a doctor to "oversee" them and the primary this is done is to charge NPs an ongoing fee while the doctors are never in the room nor seeing the patients! So Baby Boomers will benefit directly from it since this reduces overall cost of service and allow more NPs to become available.to provide medical care. Boomers make up the significant portion of voters in NV today and they are informed and vote intelligently. Please help us turn this bill into law! Apr-30-2013
For This just makes sense! Apr-30-2013
For Nurse Practitioners are highly educated, compassionate health care providers with a big picture view of a patient's health care needs, and a unique ability to evaluate needed resources. With who-knows-what-is-coming changes to our health care system and insurance plans, these midlevel providers will be critical to provide patient care and support and patients will benefit from the nurse practitioner’s ability to practice autonomously. I strongly support this bill. Apr-30-2013
For Apr-30-2013
For With Obamacare we really need Nurse Practitioners to fill in the gaps! Apr-30-2013
For With all the changes in health care we need more PCPs. Nurse practitioners can fulfill this role, to help meet the goal of health care for all. Apr-30-2013
For Apr-30-2013
For I'm not sure how to interpret physician comments that they must have a piece of paper to help a nurse practitioner who has a complicated patient. Why can't the physician say, "Hello colleague, what can I do to help you?" I support Nurse Practitioners as health care providers in Nevada, please vote YES. Apr-30-2013
For Passage of this bill will result in better access to health care to Nevadans. Nurse Practitioners responsibly provide high quality care to their patients, regardless of physician oversite. Apr-30-2013
For Apr-30-2013
For Apr-30-2013
Against This bill does nothing to alleviate the healthcare provider shortage. By removing the collaboration agreement the bill simply creates a more fragmented healthcare system at a time when attempts are being made to bring providers together. There are also serious questions regarding patient safety that have yet to be answered. Nurse practitioners have a role in healthcare but to permit independent practice with no physician oversight is premature and unnecessary. Apr-30-2013

For I have worked with nurse practitioners and seen them for my own care. This is a bill to support to the end. It is a good piece of legislation for all Nevadans! Apr-30-2013
For This bill is about access to health care for Nevadans. This bill does not change our scope of practice. It allows Advanced Practice Nurses to practice Advanced Practice Nursing while removing unnecessary restriction. Apr-30-2013
For Collaboration can be unreasonable for a NP in multiple settings who must have numerous collaborators because one collaborator will not cover the NP in multiple settings or because that physician's scope of practice does not cross all services that the NP is practicing in. Additionally, those NPs who volunteer services find themselves in even more complicated situations. So is the answer forget being a the true American and helping the unfortunates/destitutes who can afford Health Care? NPs are on the front line being exactly what President Obama encouraged people to do...VOLUNTEER and help the helpless. Apr-29-2013
Against AN170 needs to provide an oversight committee comprised of nurses/physicians and legal advisors, to advise and to review any potential complaints against the APNs. The bill also needs to provide the collaboration of backup medical support, should the patient's needs exceed the training of the APN, or should an emergency exist that the APN cannot handle. Apr-29-2013
For Apr-29-2013
For Nurse Practitioners vote for you and support the great work each of you do! Realize what we do for Nevada and those who depend on us for Quality Health Care! Apr-29-2013
Against Against A.B.170. Nurses are NOT Doctors. Do we want to drive all of the good Doctors out of our State? Vote against A.B 170. If Nurse Practitioners want to do the jobs of Doctors, they should go to Medical school and earn an M.D. Apr-29-2013

For I support independent practice for nurse practitioners. In Elko the only provider for psychiatric patients is a NP. With out her mental health patients would have to go out of town and that would not happen. She will accept Medicare and Medicaid and hardly anyone in town will do that. She will see people for free to make sure they stay stable. She is restricted by always having to find physicians to be her supervisor and often there are none and the mental health people do with out, they don't get meds, they become unstable, they end up in jail and going through the system, which cost a lot of money, they get released and the cycle begins all over. For With the influx of medicaid patients entering the system, the migration of adults who are 50 and older (elders count 2013/UNR), and the graying of our seniors, we need increased access to health care! Nurse practitioners are a practical way to alleviate some of the forthcoming burden. Fewer people going into health care coupled with our graying nurse population adds up to a decreased medical workforce! It is time to act and prepare the way for our changin healthcare system. For I've been living in Las Vegas for the past nine years and have been seeing a nurse practitioner for my healthcare needs. I strongly support the need for NP's to be independent in their practice and collaborate with physicians on a need by need basis. With the cost of healthcare on the rise, and physician's charging patients a costly fee it is practical to have an NP care for you. Feb-28-2013
For AM Ohrenschall in hit nail on the head. He noted that early detection was most significant factor in stopping and preventing medical issues/problems and even death. After all said and done, if APNs increase early detection, and all associated quality controls this bill provides put it place, then this is good bill and should be approved. Chairman Bobzien did fantastic job controlling the meeting with lengthy testimony by asking for all those in room in support then in opposition to stand - bravo outstanding Leadership! Great job Cahirman Bobzien and AM Ohrenschall! Feb-27-2013

Against Physicians complete a minimum of 20,700 hours of training before independence. APNs complete a minimum of 2,800 hours of training before independence. No doubt our healthcare system in Nevada is broken, but AB170 is not the solution. Allowing individuals with inferior training to practice medicine is indeed a scary proposal. For Hello, I am writing in support of Autonomous Practice for Nevada Nurse Practitioners. My husband and I both live with diabetes. I with Type I diabetes for 38 years and my husband with Type 2 for about 3 years. We both work in Healthcare and were relocated to Nevada nearly 7 years ago from So. California. I, being a long term patient of diabetes, realized almost immediately that there were so few physicians here that specialize in diabetes care. My search lead me to a Nurse Practitioner who my husband and I now consider our doctor. The care and attention to our health and well being by our Nurse Practitioner is unsurpassed. In my opinion Nurse Practitioners should have the ability to practice their skills in the Healthcare of patients autonomously. Thank you, Cynthia Resnick Feb-27-2013
