This solid base is expanded upon during their graduate studies and clinical training so that when an APN graduates with their Masters degree or Doctorate degree they are well trained to practice immediately without supervision. 24 states have laws that allow APNs to practice to the full extent of their education and training and none of them have changed the laws to be more restrictive. I, being a long term patient of diabetes, realized almost immediately that there were so few physicians here that specialize in diabetes care.
