CENSUS 2000

*Due
to changes in census geography over the past ten years, boundaries of these
districts do not coincide exactly to the district boundaries established in
1990. Therefore, there are minor
differences in the population reported by the Census Bureau and the population
of the current districts. These
differences amount to less than 300 people per district and should not
pose a problem because the Legislature will be changing all district boundaries
during the 2001 Legislative Session.
**The
Census Bureau reported populations of 296,351 in Senate District 5 and 129,818
in Senate District 6. However, there
was a significant discrepancy in the census geography on a boundary between
these two districts. The numbers in the
table, developed from Census Bureau block data, reflect the actual
2000 population of these districts based on their current boundaries.
