THE FIFTH DAY
Carson City (Friday), February 7, 2003
Assembly called to order at 11:08 a.m.
Mr. Speaker presiding.
All present except Assemblymen Carpenter and Collins, who were excused.
Prayer by the Chaplain, Reverend Bruce Henderson.
God, it's Friday. In the nursery rhymes, Solomon Grundy got worse on Friday before dying on Saturday, and a child born on Friday is loving and giving. From childhood, we’ve been taught to say, “Thank God, it’s Friday.” So, thank You, God, it’s Friday! May our first weekend here bring us rest, peace, and revitalization, so we can do the work the people and You have called us to do. In the Name of the One who promises us real rest.
Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.
Assemblywoman Buckley moved that further reading of the Journal be dispensed with, and the Speaker and Chief Clerk be authorized to make the necessary corrections and additions.
