Legislative Committee on Public Lands (NRS 218.5363)

Summary
The Committee on Public Lands is a permanent committee of the Nevada Legislature whose authorization and duties are set forth in Nevada Revised Statutes 218.536 through 218.5371. Its purposes are to review and comment on federal land management policies and practices, and to provide a forum for the discussion of public lands matters. The Committee holds meetings throughout Nevada during the interim period between sessions of the Nevada Legislature, and looks to residents, local governments, and state and federal agencies to provide information that may be used for future legislation or other legislative actions. The Committee monitors and discusses issues relating to fire prevention and rehabilitation, livestock grazing, mining, natural resource management, public access, permitting, recreation, wilderness, and wild horses. Furthermore, the Committee scrutinizes endangered species matters, environmental quality, regulatory, and water issues, as well as military activities, including military land and airspace proposals.
